The race 1000 Miglia Storica is leaving tonight. It celebrates this year the 80th birthday!
One thousand miles between Brescia and Rome (and back) run by 375 among the most beautiful old cars of the world, running through some of the most charming places of Italy, Verona, Ferrara, Ravenna, Urbino, Assisi, Spoleto,Terni, Viterbo, Siena, Florence, Modena and Mantua, and especially through some smaller, but none the less charming, villages.
As usual for me, I took the opportunity of my lunch break to go in the town centre (Brescia) and watch the parade of the leaving cars, taking some photos (see the photo album).
I must say that it is really striking the quantity of people this event attracts. So many faces, so many different languages, a lot of nice people, so many beautiful cars, so much money… and so much time to spare, it’s really fantastic!
It is funny to see Russians and Americans sharing together this moment:
How many racing teams, from the most famous, such as Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Aston Martin, Maserati, Porsche, Lancia, Jaguar, Bugatti, Bentley, to the less renowned (at least, to me) such as Stanga, Healey, Bandini, Om, Cisitalia, Wanderer, Moretti, Correro, Osca, Riley, Ermini, Frazer.
Among all the cars my favourite was this: Fiat 600 Multipla, a legend! 🙂
