Territorial Government Plan of Kastelorizo

Once upon a time… there was the General Town-Planning, nowadays there is the brand new Territorial Government Plan, a document each commune in Lombardy has to draft. It contains the cognitive elements of the commune’s territory, the developing guidelines, concerning the offered services and rules to be followed too.

Do you know what is the T.G.P. of Kastelorizo?
Here it is, his History! 

Just so! In fact, talking with the owner of Hotel Kastellorizo (Ξενοδοχείο Καστελλόριζο in Greek) and with other inhabitants of Kastelorizo too – I can confirm you it’s worth speaking something of modern Greek!, I discovered that, if you want to build a new house, you have to make it exactly as houses were before the isle destruction, according to the historical photo documentation as the above example.
Oh yes! All you are allowed to do is to build one more storey, or to give the house a pastel colour instead of the original white colour, but the dimensions, the structure, the architectural lines and the image must remain unchanged.

When I consider the wild fabricating on the shores of the Lake of Garda, the useless imagination exercises of many architects and builders, I cannot but think that had the administrations followed the typical architecture and history of our Lake of Garda as developing guidelines, we would have maintained that romantic “mood” which gave fame and appeal to our lake since 18th century.

What to say more?? Kastelorizo is an example to be followed… for sure!
